Microblading in Tijuana: the actual price

$4,000 MXN — about $250 USD — with the touch-up included. The same service in San Diego runs $500 to $900, most commonly around $600. That is roughly $350 saved on one appointment, about 20 minutes from the San Ysidro crossing.

What exactly does the $4,000 MXN cover?

The mapping session, the topical anesthetic, the hair-stroke work, and the retouch appointment four to six weeks later. There is no separate design fee, no anesthetic surcharge and no "consultation" line item.

We quote in pesos because pesos are what you pay. At our house rate of 16 pesos to the dollar that is about $250 USD, but the dollar figure moves and the peso price does not — so treat the dollar number as an approximation.

Why is it cheaper here?

Because the cost base is different, not because the work is. Rent on a studio in Tijuana, wages in Tijuana and the peso-dollar rate together explain the entire gap. The pigments and the technique are the same ones used north of the border.

It is worth being honest about where the math stops working: for a single $14 threading appointment, the savings do not pay for the northbound wait. For microblading, a service where the gap is several hundred dollars and the result lasts a year or two, it does.

Is it safe to get microblading in Tijuana?

The right question is not "is Tijuana safe" but "is this studio safe" — and it is the same question you should ask in California, where the price is higher but the floor for quality is not automatically better.

Three things to verify anywhere: that needles are single-use and opened in front of you, that the pigment is professional-grade and identified by brand, and that the artist can show you healed work at four to six weeks, not just photos taken minutes after the session when every stroke looks crisp.

On our side: single-use sterile needles, you approve the drawn shape in the mirror before any pigment goes in, and you leave with the written aftercare protocol. If any studio cannot answer those three plainly, that is your answer.

How the trip actually goes

Our Cacho location is about 10 minutes by car from the San Ysidro crossing and Ermita Sur is about 20. The appointment runs 150 minutes. The part to plan around is not the drive — it is the northbound wait, which swings from half an hour to over two, so check the CBP wait times before you head back.

Message us on WhatsApp and we will send the map pin plus a time slot chosen to keep you out of the worst northbound window. Cejastiana replies in English.

What about the touch-up?

It happens four to six weeks after the first session and it is already paid for. That does mean a second crossing. Clients who want the trip to count often add a lamination or a lash lift to that visit — both together still land well under a single San Diego microblading appointment.

Frequently asked

How much does microblading cost in Tijuana?
$4,000 MXN at Pretty Eyebrows® — approximately $250 USD — with the touch-up session included. In San Diego the same service runs $500 to $900 USD, commonly around $600.
Why is microblading so much cheaper in Tijuana?
Rent, wages and the exchange rate — not the materials or the technique. A studio in Tijuana operates at a fraction of the fixed costs of one in San Diego, and prices follow costs.
Is microblading in Tijuana safe?
It depends on the studio, exactly as it does in California. The three questions worth asking anywhere: single-use needles, professional-grade pigment, and healed photos rather than fresh ones. We use single-use sterile needles, you approve the drawn shape before pigment, and you leave with the written aftercare protocol.
Do I need a passport to cross back?
Yes — US citizens need a passport, passport card or an approved travel document to re-enter by land. Check current CBP requirements before you travel; this is not legal advice.
How long does the whole trip take?
The appointment is about two and a half hours. Our Cacho location is roughly 10 minutes from the San Ysidro crossing. The variable is the northbound wait, which can run from 30 minutes to over two hours — check CBP border wait times before heading back.
Do I have to cross again for the touch-up?
Yes, the touch-up happens four to six weeks later and it is included in the price. Some clients pair it with another service so the second trip covers more.
Can I pay in US dollars?
Yes, cash dollars are accepted. Card payments are processed in pesos at the day’s rate.
